Featured Volunteer
Volunteer and Artist Susan Fischer teaches a weekly textiles class for children and Friends of our Portland, Oregon chapter. Susan guides children through a variety of simple, useful, and creative projects- such as quilts, fleece hats and scarves, and flannel pajamas. She encourages creativity and experimentation: “I don’t let kids use patterns,” Susan said in a recent Oregonian article in which she was featured. “I want them to sew from the heart and the gut.” And the kids love it. Susan’s weekly commitment to volunteering at Friends of the Children Portland has made lasting impressions on so many kids.
